Arkansas Eliminates UCLA to Stay Alive
WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, JUN 18 – Arkansas improved to a 50-win season and will face LSU needing two victories to reach the national championship, continuing SEC dominance in college baseball.
On Tuesday night in Omaha, Nebraska, the Arkansas Razorbacks beat UCLA 7-3 to eliminate them and secure a spot in the College World Series semifinals.
Arkansas needed to defeat LSU twice in a row to move on to the championship round, after having lost both the regular-season series and the initial game of this matchup.
Wehiwa Aloy led Arkansas offensively, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning and an RBI triple in the fifth while Zach Root rebounded to pitch five strong innings.
Aloy, honored as SEC Player of the Year and a Golden Spikes finalist, posted a.455 batting average over three College World Series games, driving in four runs and recording three hits that went for extra bases, while also hitting his 21st home run of the season.
The Razorbacks' win guarantees an SEC team in the championship series for the 16th time in 17 seasons and sets up a rematch with LSU in the semifinals.
