Sebastian Schütze Re-Appointed Rector of the University of Vienna

On Monday, the university council appointed the 63-year-old German rector again. Art historian Schütze has been in office since 2022. The new period lasts from 2026 to 2030.

The current Rector of the University of Vienna, Sebastian Schütze (63), remains at the head of Austria's largest Alma Mater: he was re-appointed by the University Council for a second term on Monday afternoon. German art historian and former Dean of the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies took over the post of mathematician Heinz Engl in October 2022. The next term of office starts in October 2026, as the university announced.
