Reign Captain Jess Fishlock Retiring After This Season
Fishlock, a 2021 NWSL MVP, said she wants one more season to chase Seattle’s first league title before ending a 14-year run.
On Tuesday, Seattle Reign captain Jess Fishlock announced that the 2026 season, her 14th with the club since the league launched in 2013, will be her final year as a professional.
Fishlock remains the final player from the team's original 2013 roster, closing an era defined by the trio of original players that included Megan Rapinoe and Lu Barnes.
The Welsh international retires with 219 caps and 17,785 minutes played, ranking second in club history with 49 goals and the 2021 NWSL MVP award.
Seattle Reign FC Head Coach Laura Harvey praised the midfielder's 'football brain,' while Fishlock is pursuing a master's degree in sports leadership to remain involved in women's sports.
Concluding her career on November 1, Fishlock aims to help the team secure an elusive first NWSL Championship title, having already retired from Welsh international duties last year.
