- While visiting Oregon for a religious retreat on September 22, 2024, Michael died at Salem Hospital; staff allegedly claimed funeral home transport was "too expensive" and provided only a handwritten note.
- Following staff instructions, the parents drove four hours to Seattle with their son's body in the backseat, as staff reportedly failed to provide proper paperwork or morgue storage.
- Attorney Anna Bruckenhoefer of D'Amore Law Group stated, "No parents, no loved ones should ever be placed in the position that the Yeremeyevs were placed in," while Salem Health expressed condolences but cited litigation concerns.
- The lawsuit accuses the defendants of gross negligence and breaching their duty of care; the family seeks $10 million in non-economic damages and plans to amend the complaint to include punitive damages.
