Athletics Hit 4 Home Runs in 3rd Inning of 7-6 Victory over Mariners
Zack Gelof drove the go-ahead triple after the Athletics hit four homers in one inning, their second such game this season.
On Friday night, the Athletics defeated the Seattle Mariners 7-6 in Seattle, highlighted by an explosive third inning where the team hit four home runs.
Trailing 2-0, Max Muncy, Alika Williams, and Jeff McNeil launched homers in the third inning, followed by Zack Gelof's shot. The Athletics became the second major league team this season to hit four home runs in one inning.
Gelof later hit a tie-breaking triple in the fifth inning, scoring Williams and reclaiming the lead. Lawrence Butler added an RBI single to extend the advantage to 7-5.
The loss dropped the Mariners to 66-76, leaving them seven games behind first-place Houston in the American League West and six back of Cleveland for the wild card.
Saturday's matchup features Mariners right-hander George Kirby against Athletics left-hander Jeffrey Springs .
