Outrigger Race Turns Wild as Sea Lion Hops Aboard Crew’s Canoe

- "I just screamed my head off," Channing Baker, who was sitting in seat 3, told KTVU on Wednesday, while coaches in the canoe immediately directed the crew to keep paddling during the close race.
- Despite the chaotic encounter, Outrigger Santa Cruz finished in third place, and Alan Luckow, who captured the scene using a 360 camera, noted the boat could have easily tipped.
- "We see a lot of crazy things," Lockow told KTVU on Wednesday, adding the animal wasn't hurt as the viral footage spread across Instagram following the race.
