Scottsdale tops license plate reader use in Valley

Scottsdale Police conducted 12,527 automated license plate reader searches in six months, nearly one-fourth of all queries by Arizona agencies, raising privacy debates.

The recent release of public records in Yakima – an eastern Washington city of 97,300, some 1,283 miles away – raises a gaggle of questions about Scottsdale’s use of the Flock automated license plate reader (ALPR) system.
