SCIENCE & TECH: Why is Wonder Man being released in full on Disney+? The new Marvel TV show’s head writer has his say
On January 27/28, Wonder Man will premiere in full on Disney+ with all eight episodes dropping at launch, making it only the second MCU TV series to debut this way.
Speaking to TechRadar, Andrew Guest said he wasn't included in the format decision and noted there was 'no plan one way or the other', hoping the full drop is the 'right choice'.
With episodic runtimes of 20 to 30 minutes, the show fits a sitcom model, prioritizing character-led stories with leads Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley, shaped by Andrew Guest's work on 30 Rock, Community, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Past Marvel TV releases ranged from single-episode premieres to full-season drops; Marvel Studios' varied formats, like Ironheart's two-part and Echo's full five-episode release, show no one size fits all.
The show, billed as the MCU's first 2026 production, positions Marvel's TV slate for the year and Guest's influences from Dan Harmon, Greg Daniels, and Mike Schur suggest tonal shifts in future Originals.
