Family Tribute to ‘Happy and Adventurous’ Girl Found Dead in Country Park
Police said the 11-year-old was found dead after a search, and inquiries continue as the death is treated as unexplained.
Faith Curran, 11, was found dead in the Gore Water at Gore Glen Woodland Park on Thursday, August 6, following a search initiated after her family reported her missing earlier that day.
Police Scotland launched a search after the family reported her missing at 12:40 PM; her body was discovered in the water near Shank Bridge at approximately 4:25 PM that day.
In a statement, the family of Curran described the 11-year-old as a "happy, adventurous, and outgoing girl who enjoyed life," thanking those who assisted in the search while requesting privacy.
Police stated the death is being treated as unexplained, though they do not believe there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident in the Midlothian area.
Colin Beattie, the MSP for Midlothian North, expressed condolences for the "heartbreaking loss," while inquiries remain ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
