Girl, 14, Detained Under Mental Health Act After Manchester School Stabbing
Police said staff detained the suspect before officers arrived, and all three injured people were later released after hospital assessment.
On Tuesday, a 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault following a knife attack at the Co-op Academy in north Manchester, according to Greater Manchester Police.
Staff at the Plant Hill Road school in Blackley were "quick to detain" the girl before officers arrived, ensuring no further harm occurred while the facility was placed in lockdown.
Two 14-year-old pupils and a 27-year-old male staff member were taken to hospital with knife wounds; Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Wednesday that all three were released after assessment.
The teenage girl has been detained under the Mental Health Act, while officers remain in the area to provide support and ensure students and staff feel safe.
Manchester North Chief Inspector Jon Shilvock urged the public to avoid social media speculation, stating that while physical injuries were not serious, the incident's impact on those involved would be significant.
