Tottenham Complete £85m Move for Man City's Savinho
Seeking regular game time, 22-year-old attacker Savinho completes £85m move to Tottenham, joining Roberto De Zerbi's squad refresh.
On Tuesday, Tottenham signed Brazil winger Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth £85m , pushing the club's summer spending to more than $400 million.
Recently hired Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca said last week that Savinho told him "since day one" he wanted to leave after struggling to live up to expectations at the club.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi hailed Savinho's "energy, imagination and quality," noting the winger has the "courage to attack defenders" as part of a summer refresh that includes midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Manchester City's club-record sale coincides with an offseason clear-out that saw stalwarts John Stones and Bernardo Silva depart, while Tottenham rivals Chelsea as European soccer's heaviest spenders this transfer window.
Seeking more playing time, Savinho stated, "It's taken a while but I'm very happy to be here," believing he can reach the "highest level" under De Zerbi at Tottenham.
