The highest points of the High and Low Tatras were covered with a thin layer of the first snow on Sunday. Last year, the first snow appeared in the High Tatras only at the end of September.
It will warm up in the second half of the week.
After the tropical days that recently plagued the Czech Republic and Slovakia, there was a sharp turn. The weekend brought a noticeable cooling and with it the first ground frosts. The High Tatras in Slovakia even recorded the first snow showers. On Lomnický štít it was even minus 6 degrees Celsius. Snow dust was reported from Chopok in the Low Tatras.
Today, moderate to heavy cloud cover.
This weekend won't be kind to vacationers – temperatures will reach a maximum of 20°C, and snowfall is predicted on the Tatra Mountains peaks. However, a rapid warming is expected starting Wednesday. Then, in the east and south of the country, the mercury will reach up to 32°C.
Daytime temperatures will not exceed 23 degrees.
