Satellite images: New buildings appear at Russian military bases near Finnish border

Satellite images obtained by Yle show that Russia has erected large new buildings at military bases near the Finnish border. Meanwhile, more equipment has been transferred from Petrozavodsk for the war against Ukraine.

This is the first visible sign that Russia has begun investing in preparedness at its military bases off Finland after many years of no activity.

Russia has set up big halls in the Alakurta garzone and in the Petroskaya equipment warehouse. They are used for maintenance and storage of equipment used in the war against Ukraine

Large hangars for equipment appeared near the state border with Finland

Satellite images procured by the national broadcaster Yle of northern neighbours can be seen that Russia has erected large new buildings at military bases near the Finnish border. At the same time, however, a significant part of the personnel of the borderline units has been sent to Ukraine.

Satellite images show hangars built for servicing and storing equipment at the Alakurtti garrison and the Petrozavodsk military depot.
