Sanjog Gupta Named Chief Executive Of International Cricket Council As India’s Power Strengthens
INDIA, JUL 7 – Sanjog Gupta, with over 20 years in sports and media, was chosen from 2,500 global applicants to lead ICC’s expansion and digital innovation in cricket’s next chapter.
On July 7, 2025, Sanjog Gupta began his tenure as the International Cricket Council’s CEO, succeeding Geoff Allardice in the role.
Allardice had announced his resignation earlier this year, prompting a global search that shortlisted 12 candidates from over 2500 applicants.
Gupta brings a strong background in sports media and leadership, having held key positions such as Head of Sports at Disney Star and CEO of JioStar Sports.
ICC chairman Jay Shah emphasized that Sanjog's strong background in sports strategy and commercial development will greatly benefit the ICC, particularly in advancing cricket's return to the Olympics.
Gupta's appointment comes as cricket is set to feature in the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, amid efforts to broaden the sport's global reach and strengthen its presence in key markets.
