Samsung Announces World's First 2nm Mobile Chip Ahead of Apple
Samsung's Exynos 2600 chip offers up to 39% better CPU and 113% faster AI performance and uses a new thermal design to improve efficiency and gaming experience.
- On Friday, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Exynos 2600, calling it the world's first 2-nanometer mobile SoC and saying it is already in mass production for the Galaxy S26.
- Samsung says the Exynos 2600 integrates CPU, NPU and GPU to boost on-device AI and gaming with a 10-core ARM-based design supporting Arm's latest cores and instructions.
- Samsung says the new AP delivers up to 39 percent improved CPU and 113 percent higher generative-AI versus the Exynos 2500, with a GPU based on Xclipse design doubling graphics and Heat Path Block using High-k EMC improving heat dissipation.
- Apple is widely expected to adopt TSMC's N2 2nm process in 2026 and reportedly secured initial capacity for A20 and A20 Pro chips, likely debuting in iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone models.
- TSMC's N2 node promises up to 15 percent higher performance, 25 to 30 percent lower power use, and 15 percent higher transistor density, while earlier Exynos processors drew criticism for heat and throttling.
