Explosive Series Opener Goes to Portland in Extras - Santa Clara University

The fireworks were popping Thursday night at Joe Etzel Field, with the Santa Clara University baseball team and host Portland combining for eight home runs in their West Coast Conference series opener.   But it was the Pilots who had the brightest firework of the night, as Jonas Salk led off the bottom of the 11th with a walk-off solo home run to give Portland a 10-9 extra-innings win in game one.

PORTLAND, Ore. – For the fifth time this season, the Portland Pilots won on a walk-off homer, with Jonas Salk getting Portland the 10-9 victory in 11 innings over the Santa Clara Broncos. This is the fifth win in extra innings for Portland as well.
