In the face of the United States and Canada, the AuRA Region and the Ain have won the choice of the Safran Group for the establishment of its future carbon brake production plant for the international aeronautics market. The decision of the industrial company owes nothing to chance, as explained by its managing director, Olivier Andries.
On the margins of very good financial results in the first half of 2025, the French aviation group announced that it would want to produce carbon brakes in Ambérieu-en-Bugey, near Lyon.

Safran, a French aerospace group, has chosen France for its $500 million carbon brakes factory, over competitors from the U.S. and Canada, focusing on utilizing secure clean energy. This decision marks a significant step in local industrial regeneration, aligning with President Emmanuel Macron's political agenda.
"The guarantee (...) of secure access to carbon-free electricity at a stable and competitive long-term price" allowed the French motorist to opt for an installation in Ain. At the end of 2024, the group said it was reluctant to install in North America.
