Ryanair's half year profits soar by 42%

  • On Monday, Ryanair reported a 42% rise in half-year profit to £2.54 billion for the six months to the end of September.
  • Following last year's fare decline, Ryanair reported that passenger numbers rose to a record 119 million, and it expects to recover all of the 7% fare decline in its financial year.
  • Ryanair's ancillary revenue contributed to a 6% rise to 2.91 billion, while revenues for the six months increased to 9.82 billion, Neil Sorohan said.
  • The airline raised its passenger traffic forecast to 207 million passengers for the year to the end of March next year after earlier-than-expected Boeing deliveries allowed added capacity for the current quarter.
  • Looking to the fleet, Ryanair plans for a full fleet complement by summer, enabling strong 4% traffic growth to about 215 million, and will order 150 MAX 10 aircraft, according to Michael O'Leary.
