Rubio says Ukraine interceptors may not have been delivered, but not for political reasons
Rubio said the Pentagon had not deliberately withheld interceptors for Ukraine as Reuters reported a delay in a NATO-funded weapons package.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged in Mumbai, India, that interceptors purchased for Ukraine under the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List program may not have been delivered.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has not authorized the latest weaponry package under PURL, as relations between Kyiv and Washington have deteriorated this month while President Donald Trump courted Moscow.
Rubio held a 45-minute conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Tuesday, stating, "There's nothing being deliberately denied to Ukraine."
US officials reportedly threatened to halt the PURL mechanism to pressure Kyiv to stop deep strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, coinciding with Trump's announced Ukraine energy ceasefire with Russia.
Zelenskiy emphasized the need to restore Starlink and Starshield satellite services, which are critical for early warning of Russian attacks during his discussion with Rubio.
