On World Water Day, spring cleaning campaigns were held all over Slovenia. In Maribor, divers have been cleaning the Drava Riverbed for the 33rd year in a row. For the past 11 years, they have been doing this simultaneously in Maribor, Ptuj and Varaždin. Years ago, one container was not enough in Maribor, today there is much less waste, but the occasional bicycle, a traffic sign, and even a toilet bowl can still be found in the river.
Ten divers dived into the Drava River as part of an ecological campaign to remove waste from the river. They collected three cubic meters, or approximately 200 kilograms, of waste. Among the waste were a television, a toilet bowl, chairs and bicycle parts.
The 33rd ecological campaign to clean up the Drava River took place in Maribor today, during which divers removed numerous items of waste from the river.
