Tampa Bay Lightning Predicted To Land Erik Karlsson

Summary
Mandatory Credit: Talia Sprague-Imagn Images Much of the talk around the Pittsburgh Penguins this summer has been about the team potentially moving on from some of the veterans on the roster. One of those is defenseman Erik Karlsson, who has seen his name be placed on the trade block all offseason. Karlsson is scheduled to make $11.5 million in each of the next two seasons, a salary number that could impact potential trades. Some have speculated that Pittsburgh may need to retain some money in a deal for Karlsson, simply to help push things over the finish line. NHL insider Josh Yohe of The Athletic addressed the rumors around a Karlsson trade, discussing the possibility of the team eating some of the salary in a deal. “That said, teams are interested in Karlsson, as has been the case for nearly a year. While teams are interested in the three-time Norris Trophy winner, they are not interested in his $10 million cap hit.
