Rourke, Oliveira and Philpot Named as Finalists for CFL’s Top Canadian Award
Rourke, Oliveira and Philpot earned the nod after posting record-setting seasons and leading the CFL in key offensive categories.
The CFL named B.C. Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke, Bombers running back Brady Oliveira, and Montreal Alouettes receiver Tyson Philpot as finalists for the top Canadian award on Wednesday.
Rourke threw for 4,614 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 70.5 per cent of his passes; Oliveira led the league with 1,493 rushing yards, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
Setting new Canadian standards, Philpot recorded 124 catches for 1,809 yards and 13 touchdowns in 16 games. He established himself as a top offensive threat for the Alouettes.
The league also unveiled finalists for other awards, including linemen Jarell Broxton, Nick Callender, and Pier-Olivier Lestage alongside rookies Tyler Kahmann, Parker McKenna, and Major Williams.
Winners will learn of their awards through surprise presentations shared online, as the CFL cancelled the traditional annual awards ceremony this year.
