Roston Chase sparks Bangladesh collapse to keep West Indies hopes up in 1st test
On Friday, West Indies skipper Roston Chase triggered a collapse as Bangladesh slumped to 79-6 during the third day of the first Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, keeping the tourists' victory hopes alive.
Bangladesh established a 27-run first-innings lead after bowling the West Indies out for 245, despite Tagenarine Chanderpaul's top-scoring 56 from 184 balls.
Left-Arm spinner Jomel Warrican took 2-19 to complement Chase's 3-25, while the captain quickly dismissed opener Shadman Islam for 13, Towhid Hridoy for a duck, and Najmul Hossain Shanto for 10.
West Indies batting coach Floyd Reifer expressed confidence in chasing the 125-run target, stating, "I think that's really possible for us on a pitch like that."
Play ended early on Friday due to bad light, leaving Bangladesh with a 106-run lead as Jaker Ali and Nayeem Hasan remained at the crease, both batting on 18.
