Rosmah Sues Harith over Pontianak, Pocong Joke
Rosmah Mansor alleges the routine used her image to portray her as frightening and seeks an apology plus unspecified damages.
Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor filed a defamation lawsuit against comedian Harith Iskander Musa at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur on June 9, alleging his comedy routine subjected her to public ridicule and "body shaming."
During his January 17 performance at the Swiss-Garden Hotel in Melaka, Harith allegedly displayed Rosmah's image after showing mythological creatures, suggesting she was "a frightening figure" within his 'The Outspoken Comedy Tour' routine.
Rosmah seeks an unconditional apology and damages, citing two TikTok videos that garnered about 219,700 and 12,500 views, contending the act was made "with malicious intent to degrade and damage" her reputation.
In his July 9 defense filing, Harith argued his performance was not defamatory, noting the image appeared for "a split second" during his 90-minute show and emphasizing the clips violated house rules.
Counsel for both parties confirmed the litigation on Monday, adding that the High Court has scheduled the next case management session for July 31 to address the competing claims.
