Acuña Returns to NL East-Leading Braves After Missing Almost 7 Weeks with Left Hamstring Strain
The Braves activated the 2023 National League Most Valuable Player after he missed almost seven weeks with a left hamstring strain.
On Monday, the Atlanta Braves activated outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. from the injured list after the 2023 National League MVP missed nearly seven weeks with a left hamstring strain.
While the Braves initially struggled in June without Acuña, the club rebounded after the All-Star break and now leads the National League East with a 62-43 record.
Following a rehabilitation stint with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers, Acuña told reporters on Saturday he is "feeling much better" and "ready to go."
The star outfielder is expected to be available for Monday night's opener of a three-game series against the New York Mets, where manager Walt Weiss expects him to play right field.
Injuries have challenged the 2023 MVP in recent years, including ACL tears sustained in 2021 and 2024, though his return bolsters Atlanta's playoff push.
