A growing number of self-driving taxis in Texas are creating new headaches. Waymo’s cars have been spotted parking on residential streets for days at a time. Expert Phil Koopman says this is not specific to Texas. It happens in every city where Waymo operates. The company says in a statement that they only use “publicly available parking spaces” between trips as to not “add to congestion.”

In some cities in the U.S., you’re likely to see Waymo taxis ferrying passengers around, and with no one behind the wheel. For the most part, these self-driving cars generally do a good job; but as a few episodes earlier this month proved, they obviously need Waymo improvement before they can be considered 100% capable of doing everything by themselves.
