Rita Wilson Teases Return to 'Girls' Reboot
The limited run brings back Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells, with production set for 2027.
HBO greenlit a five-episode Girls revival with creator Lena Dunham and the four original lead actresses set to reprise their roles. Production begins in 2027, a decade after the series finale.
Following her 40th birthday, Dunham decided to revisit the show, shifting focus from the "tumult of one's twenties" to the milestone of turning forty. She said, "I've missed these characters."
Returning cast members include Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, Jemima Kirke, and Andrew Rannells as Elijah Krantz. No official word yet confirms appearances from other recurring actors like Adam Driver or Christopher Abbott.
Rita Wilson, who played Evie Michaels, teased her potential return to the revival. "That is what I'm hearing," Wilson told People, adding she would "do anything" for the creator.
Production begins in 2027, ten years after the original series ended. Fans trust Girls will retain its "wit, wisdom and generosity of spirit" while exploring how the characters navigated the decade since.
