Rightmove say average UK house price has tumbled by more than £10,000

Average UK house prices have declined for six months straight with a 1.3% drop in August while sales rose 8% compared to last year, Rightmove data shows.

  • Rightmove said the average asking price for a home in the UK has fallen by 1.3% or £4,969 this month to £368,740.
  • More than one in three properties have been reduced in price since first coming to market, and the number of houses for sale is at a decade high, up 10% in a year.
  • The market is adjusting to a recent increase in stamp duty that brought forward demand in the first part of the year, and serious buyers and sellers are locking in deals amid stable buyer demand and forecasts of one more interest rate cut this year.
