Rifle seized as Toronto police arrest 8 in stolen‑vehicle probe
Police say the probe uncovered 27 rounds of ammunition and 7 automobile master keys as investigators expanded the case overnight.
Toronto Police Service arrested eight people, including four youths, during a stolen-vehicle and firearms investigation in the city's east end, seizing a loaded AR-15-style rifle.
On Aug. 23, Police attempted to arrest a wanted man in the Regent Park neighbourhood near Dundas Street East and Sumach Street; a brief foot chase led to two arrests and seizure of the loaded rifle.
Following the initial arrests, Police executed a search warrant at a nearby residence where officers located seven master keys and two electronic programming devices designed for vehicle theft.
Kevin Joao, Jahmier Adams, and Lamario Reddick, along with one other adult and four youths, face various firearms and theft charges; Joao is accused of possessing 13 automobile master keys.
Investigators have released images of seized items as the case proceeds, with accused facing court dates on Sept. 21 and Nov. 13; Police request tips from the public.
