Richemont Announces the Appointment of a Non-Executive
Anton Rupert will lead Richemont’s creative and commercial direction as investors seek clearer succession planning at the Swiss luxury group.
- On Wednesday, the Board of Richemont appointed 39-year-old Anton Rupert as non-executive co-deputy chairman, serving alongside Bram Schot. The decision was finalized at Tuesday's meeting, with Anton starting immediately.
- Johann Rupert described the appointment as "an important step in the Board's long-term succession planning." The chairman emphasized that Richemont's strength relies on the "continuity that comes from close family involvement" in the business.
- Anton will oversee the Maisons' Strategic Product and Communications Committee, ensuring continuity in the Group's creative direction. Bram Schot continues managing corporate governance for brands including Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.
- Investors have sought clarity on succession since the 2024 management reshuffle. Richemont shares fell as much as 1.7% in early Zurich trading on Wednesday, though the stock remains up about 24% over the previous 12 months.
- Beyond succession, Richemont is refining its portfolio, having sold the 196-year-old watchmaker Baume & Mercier to Damiani Group in July. The Group continues investing in manufacturing, including a major expansion in Scandicci, Italy.
