A fake driver's license (SIM) syndicate in Riau was uncovered after the Siak Police discovered offers circulating on WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social media platforms offering to issue SIMs without a test. Siak Police Chief AKBP Sepuh Ade Irsyam Siregar stated that before being uncovered, the perpetrators had been distributing the fake SIMs in several areas of Sumatra, charging up to millions of rupiah per SIM.
