Mississippi State Suffers Major Blow as QB Kamario Taylor Is Out for the Season
On Tuesday, Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor was ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season due to a foot injury requiring surgery as early as Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Taylor first sustained the toe injury during a September 26 win against Missouri, then aggravated it attempting to play through games against Alabama and Oklahoma before missing LSU on Oct. 17.
Before the injury, Taylor recorded 1,460 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and a 65.4% completion rate through six games, leading the Bulldogs to a 4-0 start and co-leading the SEC in touchdown passes.
Coach Jeff Lebby declined to commit to a starter on Monday, saying the team will choose between backup Billy Puckett and Appalachian State transfer AJ Swann for the Texas game.
Though missing the season is "hard to accept," Taylor said his "commitment to this team won't change." The Bulldogs must stabilize their offense to remain competitive in the SEC schedule.
