Giants share bad news on Tyrone Tracy Jr. amid serious hamstring injury
Joe Schoen said the injury is not season-ending, and Tracy is expected to miss about four games after the Giants signed Gregory Desrosiers.
On Tuesday, New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen announced that running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is headed to injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury during Sunday's 27-21 overtime victory against the Houston Texans.
This move sidelines Tracy for at least four games, preventing his return when the Giants resume play after their bye week, though Schoen indicated the injury is not season-ending.
Filling the 53-man roster vacancy, the team signed running back Greg Desrosiers off the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad; Desrosiers, who played at Memphis, signed as an undrafted free agent earlier this year.
The Giants' running back group has endured a tumultuous stretch, including starter Cam Skattebo being benched in a Week 6 loss to the New Orleans Saints and veteran Najee Harris being released.
Through seven games this season, Tracy has 19 rushing attempts for 55 yards and two touchdowns, plus five receptions for 54 yards and one score, after previously recording over 1,000 yards of total offense in each of his first two seasons.
