‘Intelligence and violence’ crucial to Blake Cashman method
Cashman posted 12 tackles, two sacks and four pass breakups as Minnesota held Indianapolis to 108 passing yards and one interception.
Minnesota Vikings linebacker Blake Cashman led the team to a 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, anchoring a defense that limited the offense to 108 yards.
Cashman, who relays defensive calls, credited trust in the coaching staff's scheme for the team's success, saying understanding the system allows players to anticipate offensive plays and react faster.
Against the Colts, Cashman recorded 12 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback pressures, and four pass breakups; the defense sacked Daniel Jones four times total.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell said, "It seemed like he was everywhere," while safety Harrison Smith, a future Hall of Famer in his 15th NFL season, praised Cashman's intelligence and intensity.
Despite his standout performance, Cashman remains team-focused, saying "its gonna be somebody else" next week. Since joining Minnesota in 2023, he has amassed 310 tackles and 11 sacks.
