LAFAYETTE — A fire broke out on M. L. Tigue Moore Field in Russo Park at the University of Louisiana Lafayette on Friday. According to the Lafayette Fire Department, the fire was caused by sparks from construction equipment igniting pine needles in the area. Fire sparks at UL baseball field; flames quickly put out
LAFAYETTE, La. Lafayette firefighters were called to put out flames at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus.The fire sent huge plumes of smoke into the skies over Lafayette.University staffers said one of the advertising billboards next to the scoreboard caught fire and the flames were quickly put out.The cause of the fire is under investigation.No injuries were reported.
