OxygenOS Made OnePlus Phones Special. Now, It Might Go Away Forever
Smartprix says the software shift follows an aggressive restructuring as OnePlus and Realme are folded into Oppo and future phones move to ColorOS.
- Indian outlet Smartprix reported that OnePlus and Realme will discontinue OxygenOS and Realme UI, migrating to Oppo's ColorOS in the coming months as part of an "aggressive restructuring."
- The consolidation began in 2021 when OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau announced a software merger between OnePlus and Oppo under parent conglomerate BBK Electronics, which operates all three brands.
- OnePlus products are currently listed as "Out of stock" on the official storefront, with retail presence shrinking significantly since the brand exited North America and European markets earlier this year.
- Oppo has reportedly begun canceling OnePlus's 2026 global product lineup, accelerating the consolidation of the once-prominent Android brand under a unified corporate structure.
- Given that OxygenOS has long functioned as a fork of ColorOS, industry observers note the transition is a logical step as both brands align completely under the Oppo umbrella.
