Josh Riley Wins Reelection in New York's 19th Congressional District
Riley won by more than 40,000 votes, according to the Associated Press, as affordability and utility costs dominated the campaign.
On Tuesday, Democrat Josh Riley was reelected to the U.S. Congress, defeating Republican challenger Peter Oberacker in New York's 19th Congressional District.
The campaign focused on affordability and rising costs across the 19th Congressional District, which spans rural areas and deep blue pockets requiring broad appeal.
Riley led by a margin of over 40,000 votes with about 96% of the vote counted, according to the Associated Press, while Oberacker received nearly 20,000 votes.
Oberacker conceded on Tuesday, releasing a statement: 'I'll keep fighting for Upstate New York, and I hope Congressman Riley joins me.'
Riley begins his second term on Jan. 3 and plans to prioritize anti-corruption legislation, including term limits and banning members of Congress from trading stocks.
