One day after achieving an unexpected victory in the first stage of the UAE Tour, Mexican pedalist Isaac del Toro lost his lead to the world's triple champion in the race against the clock, Remco Evenepoel.
The second stage of the United Arab Emirates Tour (UCI 2.UWT), a 12.2-kilometer time trial, was won by reigning world champion and Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe). Oliver Mätik (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) opened the season in Almeria, Spain, at a one-day race.

Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull BORA hansgrohe) won the second stage of the United Arab Emirates cycling race today, an individual time trial. He beat Briton Josh Tarling (Ineos) by six seconds, with Frenchman Remi Cavagna (Groupama) in third. Evenepoel also took the overall lead in the race with today's victory.
