Relegated Wolves Appoint Peixoto as New Manager
On Monday, Wolverhampton Wanderers appointed César Peixoto as their new head coach on a two-year contract following the club's recent relegation from the Premier League.
The club dismissed manager Rob Edwards last week after seven months in charge, ending a difficult campaign where Wolves finished bottom of the league with only three wins from 38 matches.
A former Portugal international, Peixoto previously played under Jose Mourinho at Porto and joins from Gil Vicente, where he guided the team to a sixth-place finish in the Primeira Liga.
Wolverhampton Wanderers executive chairman Nathan Shi praised the appointment, stating, "Cesar demonstrated all of those characteristics, but what impressed me most was his mentality, his work ethic and his willingness to embrace the challenge."
Peixoto is now tasked with revamping the squad in the Championship to secure a swift return to the Premier League, declaring, "I am prepared to do everything to put Wolves where it belongs.
