Reds Pick Alabama Shortstop Justin Lebron as 18th Pick in MLB Draft
Lebron brings power, speed and defense after batting .277 with 16 home runs and 42 stolen bases this season, scouts said.
On Saturday, the Cincinnati Reds selected University of Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron 18th overall in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft.
Lebron hit.309 during his three-year career with the Crimson Tide, totaling 46 home runs, 152 RBIs, and 66 stolen bases while developing into a premier defensive shortstop.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound infielder pairs power with top-end speed, said Joe Katuska, Reds Director of Amateur Scouting: "We believe strongly in the athlete he is and the player he's going to become."
With five selections on the draft's opening day in Philadelphia, the Reds continue building their farm system with 20 additional picks still to come.
Lebron marks the Crimson Tide's highest selection in 35 years and is the second shortstop the Reds have taken in the first round in the past two years.
