Rays' Junior Caminero Becomes Youngest Player Since at Least 1900 to Homer in Six Straight Games
Caminero is 13-for-27 with eight homers over his last seven games as Tampa Bay looks for a seventh straight win.
Tampa Bay Rays star Junior Caminero has become the youngest player since at least 1900 to homer in six straight games, hitting a 425-foot shot against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.
Over his last six games, Caminero has hit eight home runs. The 22-year-old, who hit 45 home runs in 2025, said, "The best I've ever felt at the plate," cautioning against putting too much pressure on himself.
Caminero joins historical greats like Ken Griffey, who homered in six straight games at age 23 in 1993. Players including Jack Clark, Brian McCann, and Ronald Acuna also homered in five consecutive contests before their 23rd birthdays.
As the Rays seek a seventh consecutive victory, pitcher Shane McClanahan is set to take the mound. McClanahan, returning from two seasons of injuries, carries a 3.30 ERA this year.
The Rays star will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Royals have lost five of their last six games overall and three straight against Tampa Bay.
