Russia has minimized its military presence in Transnistria — Ambassador Ozerov: EADaily
EADaily, July 19th, 2025. The Russian Federation has minimized its military presence in Transnistria, where a peacekeeping operation is being conducted. In addition, our military is forced to guard ammunition depots.
The Russian side minimized the presence of its troops in the unrecognized Transdniestrian, informed the Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Lakes, who said that almost all heavy weapons had been removed from the region, and he also denied the statement by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan that Moscow was planning to send 10,000 fighters to Transdniestrian.
Five persons from the Republic of Moldova, who have settled in Russian troops from the Transnistria separatist region, have remained without citizenship on the basis of the decree signed by President Maia Sandu.
The President of the Republic of Moldova issued on Thursday, 17 July, a decree on the withdrawal of a citizen for five persons who have voluntarily moved into a Russian military unit illegally deployed in the Transnistrian region.
