Floating crane lifts first part of "Verity" wreck
The salvage of the sunken freighter "Verity" in the German Bight southwest of Heligoland has begun - after months of preparation. A floating crane lifted the stern section, i.e. the rear section, from a depth of 40 meters to the surface, as a spokeswoman for the Directorate General for Waterways and Shipping in Bonn announced. "The work went smoothly." The 40-meter-long and 600-ton stern section was lifted out of the water in the evening.
