Readers respond: Scrimping on water while data centers gulp

Recently, residents in The Dalles received a notice from the Public Works department about a Stage 1 water restriction to begin Sept. 8. The letter asks customers to voluntarily reduce water use “until fall rains return.” The letter also suggests letting grass go dormant, reducing shrub and vegetable watering and fixing toilet leaks.
