Tim David to Be Suspended for First Match of IPL 2027
Tim David accepted the sanction after throwing an ice bag at umpire Nitin Menon and will miss Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2027 opener.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Tim David will miss the opening match of the 2027 Indian Premier League season after receiving a one-game suspension for his third Level 1 offence.
The disciplinary action stems from an incident during the 2026 Indian Premier League final in Ahmedabad, where David threw an ice bag toward umpire Nitin Menon during the 10th over of Gujarat Titans' innings.
Breaching Article 2.9 of the Code of Conduct resulted in a 50 per cent fine of his match fees while David accumulated five demerit points total from the incident.
David accepted the offence and the sanction imposed by the match referee, confirming his unavailability for the 2027 season opener.
Rajat Patidar led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their second straight Indian Premier League title, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets to defend their 2025 crown.
