Raw sewage being released into river in Kawartha Lakes from heavy rains
Kawartha Lakes, Ont. – Residents who draw their water from the Fenelon River are being advised by Lakelands Public Health to exercise proper filtration and disinfection before consumption following release of raw sewage into the river on Sunday. Higher-than-normal sewage flows have been triggered from extreme wet weather and snow melt, causing the volume of wastewater entering the sewer system to exceed its capacity. Kawartha 411 report
