Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu was today appointed the new President of the Republic of Fiji Islands. The President was appointed after voting in Parliament. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka nominated Ratu Naiqama for the position while Opposition Leader, Inia Seruiratu nominated Ratu Meli Tora Tavaiqia.
