- His Honour Judge Lickley KC stated Heather had "stabbed Stephen without any justification" in a "moment of extreme violence." Morrisson's mother, Lorraine, said his death left an "enormous hole" in their family.
- Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood noted the sentencing concludes a "long and difficult journey towards justice" after the investigation began on June 23, 2020. The family showed "tremendous strength" throughout the six-year process.
