Rape Crisis Centre Condemns Irish Comedian over Controversial Joke
Goodwin said the joke about her alleged rape was hurtful as the TikTok response drew nearly 1 million views and renewed backlash.
Earlier this week, British influencer Rebecca Goodwin sparked backlash against comedian Vittorio Angelone after sharing a TikTok video criticizing a rape joke he made about her during a 'Have A Word' podcast roast.
The roast episode was recorded in late 2025 and remained behind a paywall for a year before non-paying viewers recently accessed and shared the content online.
Goodwin, currently undergoing a rape trial, said the joke was 'one of the hardest things I've ever been through in my life' and noted Angelone never sought her permission.
Following backlash, Angelone apologized on Instagram, calling himself 'completely pathetic,' while Dublin Rape Crisis Centre CEO Rachel Morrogh condemned the remarks, stating they 'reinforce attitudes that discourage people from coming forward.'
Despite Angelone's pledge to 'do better in future,' Goodwin rejected the apologies, arguing they arrived a year late and only emerged after her public social media response.
