Rangers Right-Hander Nathan Eovaldi Placed on 15-Day Injured List with Elbow Inflammation
Nathan Eovaldi went on the 15-day injured list with right posterior elbow inflammation, and the Rangers recalled rookie Ben Peoples from Triple-A Round Rock.
The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the 15-day injured list on Monday due to right posterior elbow inflammation, with the move backdated to Sunday.
Eovaldi, 36, has posted a 10-9 record with a 4.21 ERA this season while leading the Rangers with 137 strikeouts over 132 2/3 innings across 22 starts.
In his last outing Friday, Eovaldi limited the Baltimore Orioles to one run over 5 1/3 innings before the Rangers recalled 25-year-old rookie Ben Peoples from Triple-A Round Rock.
Management must identify a starter for Wednesday's game to replace Eovaldi, as the Rangers trail the Houston Astros by a half-game in the American League West.
The adjustment follows recent returns of left-handers Cody Bradford and Jordan Montgomery, both 2023 World Series championship teammates who recovered from elbow surgeries before pitching last week.
